Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition counseling, and friendship to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and several counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
We seek a Chef to prepare a variety of soups, salads, entrees, and baked goods for our clients. Working in our high volume industrial kitchen, the Chef will:
The successful candidate will have at least two years of professional cooking experience in a high volume facility and Food Safety Manager certification. Additional requirements include advanced knowledge of large batch cooking techniques, ability to be physically mobile and lift up to 50 pounds, familiarity with MS Word and Excel, superb time management, ability and willingness to instruct and supervise volunteers, good communication skills, patience, and an appreciation for diversity. Must be willing to work some holidays. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test.
