Client Care Connector

Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.

We seek a Client Care Connector to serve as the primary liaison between Food & Friends and its clients from partnership sources.  The Client Care Connector will:

  • oversee intake process for partnership clients and verify eligibility for service;
  • ensure that client documentation is complete and up-to-date;
  • enter case notes into client database;
  • communicate with insurance plans, referral partners, and case workers regarding client eligibility and documentation;
  • provide new clients with overview of Food & Friends’ services; and
  • adhere to HIPAA standards at all times when handling client data.

This is an outstanding entry-level opportunity for a professional seeking experience in social services or nonprofit work.

The successful candidate will have a BA/BS, demonstrated interest in nonprofit work or social services, strong customer service skills, excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and an appreciation for diversity.  Knowledge of issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS and/or cancer is desirable.  Fluency in Spanish a plus.  Must be willing to work some holidays.  Offer of employment is contingent upon a pre-employment drug test.

Food & Friends is an essential entity and has continued to provide services to the community during the COVD-19 pandemic.  Telework is not permitted and staff must work on-site.  Our staff is meticulous with hygiene, facility sanitation, social distancing, and the wearing of masks to prevent the spread of illness.

Food & Friends provides a competitive hourly rate and generous benefits.  Our staff enjoys a high quality, diverse work environment that includes short Fridays and casual dress.  Food & Friends is Metro accessible, and has free on-site parking.
