Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
We seek a Director of Special Events to oversee production of fundraising events. Reporting to the Director of Development: Philanthropic Partnerships, the Director will:
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead some of the Washington region’s most established and anticipated special events.
The successful candidate will have a BA/BS, at least six years combined experience in event management and fundraising, and a valid driver’s license. Must have proven experience leading successful revenue-generating fundraising events. Other requirements include prior supervisory experience, experience creating and monitoring budgets, excellent attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure while meeting tight deadlines, ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, and an appreciation for diversity.
