Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition counseling, and friendship to people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and several counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
We seek a part-time Dietitian (15-20 hours a week, flexible schedule) to provide nutrition counseling to our clients living with HIV/AIDS and cancer. The Dietitian will provide counseling via telephone, ensure clients receive appropriate diet modifications and supplements and maintain records of client contacts.
The successful candidate will have a BA/BS in a relevant field, registered dietician licensure in DC, and at least one year of professional experience. Additional requirements include knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy for oncology and HIV; strong communication skills; ability to provide nutrition counseling in a scientifically sound, culturally sensitive manner; and an appreciation for diversity. Fluency in spoken and written Spanish strongly preferred. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test.
