Saturday Delivery Driver

Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored prepared meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple jurisdictions across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.

We seek a Delivery Driver to work a weekly daytime shift on Saturdays. The Driver will:

  • load a refrigerated cargo van with day’s deliveries;
  • deliver meals and groceries to client homes throughout the District of Columbia;
  • offer a friendly greeting to clients; and
  • fill vehicle with gas, and report any maintenance issues.

Our drivers make a good hourly wage, and contribute to Food & Friends’ charitable mission of helping neighbors in need.

Requirements include a driver’s license (CDL not required) and good driving record, working knowledge of traffic and highway laws and regulations, ability to lift up to 30 lbs., good people skills, and an appreciation for diversity. Prior professional driving experience strongly preferred. Must be able and willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions, including snow and ice. Job offer contingent upon a pre-employment drug test.
