Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored prepared meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple jurisdictions across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
Part-Time Delivery Driver: (approximately 20 hours of work a week, daytime working hours).
This is a great opportunity for someone who has a flexible schedule or broad availability during daytime business hours. Drivers make a good hourly wage, and contribute to Food & Friends’ charitable mission of helping neighbors in need.
Requirements include a driver’s license (CDL not required) and good driving record, working knowledge of traffic and highway laws and regulations, ability to lift up to 30 lbs., familiarity with the Washington region, good people skills, and an appreciation for diversity. Prior professional driving experience strongly preferred. Must be able and willing to drive in a variety of weather conditions. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test and proof of vaccination against COVID-19, including booster (exemption from vaccination requirement will be considered for disability or a sincerely held religious belief, practice, or observance).
