
Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides medically-tailored meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, diabetes, and other life-challenging illnesses. Our team of sixty-five employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and fourteen counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Operations Director leads all aspects of development operations and data management. Specifically, the Director will:
- Configure Raiser’s Edge and Luminate Online to capture how donor data is gathered, entered, coded, and used to support queries, list pulls, and customized reports;
- Oversee data imports/exports from multiple systems into Raiser’s Edge and design data syncs to maintain integration with a variety of other software platforms;
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and best practices to support efficient and accurate gift processing, data management, reporting and analysis;
- Manage relations with Blackbaud and other software and gift processing vendors;
- Supervise gift processing and coding for gift acknowledgement;
- Assist development professionals with creation of database reports and data analysis;
- Serve as liaison to Finance & Administration to coordinate policies and procedures for gift reconciliation; and
- Supervise two development professionals who work with data entry and digital fundraising initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a BA/BS, at least eight years of fundraising and CRM experience, and prior supervisory experience. Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge certification a plus. Other requirements include deep understanding of advanced data management techniques and concepts, the ability to train others on database usage, the ability to run query-based reports and offer insightful analysis of results, the ability and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team, and an appreciation for diversity.
