
WASHINGTON, D.C (January 15, 2025) – Food & Friends, the Washington D.C. region’s leading provider of medically tailored meals for individuals living with life-challenging illnesses, is thrilled to announce Chef Yuan Tang of Rooster & Owl as the Chef Chair for the 32nd Annual Chef’s Best Dinner & Auction. This highly anticipated event takes place May 7th at the Marriott Marquis Washington D.C. Each year, Chef’s Best brings together the region’s finest culinary talent in support of Food & Friends’ mission to deliver medically tailored meals to seriously ill neighbors.
Chef Tang has become a pillar in the D.C. restaurant community, garnering accolades for his flagship Rooster & Owl including a coveted Michelin star and a spot on the New York Times Best Restaurants List in 2023.
“As a chef and restauranteur, I’ve witnessed first-hand the healing power of a meal,” said Chef Tang. “Food & Friends believes that food is medicine – and you see it each day in their impact on our seriously ill neighbors. I’m honored to support their work by serving as Chef Chair of this year’s Chef’s Best.”
Chef’s Best is Washington’s premier spring culinary event, featuring 30 of the region’s top chefs serving gourmet bites and signature cocktails. Proceeds from Chef’s Best will provide critical resources to help Food & Friends provide 1.75 million medically tailored meals, medically tailored groceries, and nutrition counseling to those living with serious illnesses including HIV/AIDS, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.

Chef’s Best is expected to raise $1 million to support Food & Friends’ mission. The Chef’s Best Leadership Committee, which is raises sponsorship funds, is co-chaired by board member Joe Maloney, Senior VP of Strategic Communications for the American Gaming Association, and Hastie Afkhami, Managing Director for S-3 Group.
