
The signature annual event, chaired by Chef Derek Watson, raises funds to provide medically tailored meals and groceries to people with serious illnesses
WASHINGTON (May 10, 2024) — Food & Friends, a leading nonprofit organization in Washington, D.C. which prepares and home-delivers 1.9 million medically tailored meals annually to several thousand households throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, will host its 31st annual Chef’s Best gala and fundraiser.
More than 25 of the Washington, D.C., region’s most talented chefs and mixologists will provide gourmet bites and signature cocktails at this highly anticipated annual event. It will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The invitation-only President’s Reception starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Chef’s Tasting Reception starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program and live auction. Leon Harris, News4 Anchor, NBC4 Washington is serving as Emcee. Attire will be business or cocktail.
The event will bring together more than 800 business leaders and community members, raising nearly $1 million for Food & Friends. Leading sponsors include RTX, LINK Strategic Partners, PhRMA, Popeyes Foundation, the National Retail Federation, T-Mobile and OpenTable.

This year’s Chef Chair is Derek Watson, who was most recently the Executive Chef of Nama Ko. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Xi Omega Chapter will be honored for their 24-year commitment to uplifting lives throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area, by volunteering at Food & Friends.
