Jill Baldwin, the former Vice President of Finance Business Partnership at Marriott International, was elected to serve as President of the Food & Friends Board of Directors. She was voted by the Board of Directors to serve as President at the December 15, 2021, meeting. She will serve a two-year term, overseeing an important period of expansion.
Jill retired from Marriott after a 34-year career and has served on the Food & Friends Board of Directors since 2013. She has actively volunteered and helped raise new awareness and support of our mission for more than a decade. Her dynamic leadership experience in the corporate sector, and track record of service and advocacy at Food & Friends, will be instrumental in supporting our mission of improving the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses.
During her time on the Food & Friends Board of Directors, the organization has achieved significant growth in mission delivery. The percentage increase of new individuals served during Jill Baldwin’s tenure as a Board Director is 53%. Services were expanded to provide medically tailored meals for neighbors living with Stage 5 renal disease, congestive heart failure, COPD, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson’s, and Cystic Fibrosis. In 2021, Food & Friends crossed the milestone of 25 million meals home-delivered since our founding in 1988.
“The Food & Friends Board of Directors plays a key role in stewarding our mission, building our capacity to serve neighbors living with serious illnesses, and helping us raise awareness of our work across the DC region. Jill Baldwin has demonstrated exceptional commitment to our mission, and we are looking forward to her impactful leadership during this important stage of growth.” said Carrie Stoltzfus, MPH, Executive Director.
“I am honored to serve as the next President of the Food & Friends Board of Directors,” said Jill Baldwin. “Food & Friends is the only community-based organization in the D.C. region providing home-delivered medically tailored meals and medical nutrition therapy to our neighbors living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other serious illnesses. We invite you to engage with us as we embark on a new chapter and continue to live by our values of accountability, compassion, community, dignity, diversity, excellence, and reliability.”

About Food & Friends
Our mission is to improve the lives and health of people with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses that limit their ability to provide nourishment for themselves by: preparing and delivering medically tailored meals and groceries that are designed to meet the medical and dietary needs of each of our clients; providing nutritional counseling and wellness education that enhances our clients’ quality of life; and creating a strong sense of community for both our clients and volunteers that reduces the social isolation that often comes with serious illnesses and provides meaningful opportunities for neighbors to help neighbors in need.
