This Thanksgiving Day, thanks to you, we delivered 8,520 pounds of turkey, complete with side dishes of roasted potatoes, cornbread stuffing, gravy, butternut squash soup, buttered corn, braised collard greens, cranberry sauce, fresh fruits and vegetables, gourmet pies, and dinner rolls. All so our neighbors living with serious illnesses could enjoy a festive holiday with loved ones. This proud community tradition goes back more than 30 years. We are a volunteer-powered mission, driven by community support. Special thanks to our partner Wegmans and the 300+ caring, dedicated neighbors who made this Thanksgiving Day a success.
We received outstanding coverage from news media on the big day, including the front-page, top-fold story in the Friday, November, 26 Washington Post written by Nicole Asbury with photos by Matt McClain. All four major D.C. region television stations were with us to cover the operation. If you missed any of the exciting coverage, you can find links below, and scroll down for a photo gallery of volunteers and staff in action.
