The Honoring Our Heroes Dinner & Auction on July 13, 2022 was a jubilant tribute to the healthcare, social services, and restaurant professionals who kept our community safe and at home during a global health crisis.
The event brought together hundreds of leaders, volunteers, supporters, and community champions to recognize the extraordinary contributions of eight frontline change-makers who worked tirelessly to serve our community as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.
The evening honored eight “Delivering Hope Heroes”:
- Dr. Bruno Petinaux, Chief Medical Officer, George Washington University Hospital
- Chief Oluwafunmike Omasere, Battalion Chief, DC Fire and EMS
- Chef Teresa Padilla and Geraldine Mendoza, Co-Founders of Taqueria Xochi
- Dominique Foster, Teacher, and Community Organizer, Friendship Public Charter School
- Reba Miller, BSN, RN, JD, SCRN, ICU Nurse, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital
- Alvin Chen and Jeffrey Naber, Core Volunteers, Food & Friends
