Purpose of Committee

Food & Friends’ Emerging Leaders Committee is a growing group of individuals in their 20s and 30s who believe that “anyone can get sick and everyone can help.” Now in its first year of existence, we aim to recruit 10-15 members and collectively raise $10,000-$15,000 over the course of 2020.

The committee plays a strategic role in developing awareness of Food & Friends and providing opportunities for growth by leveraging social media, events, and individual fundraising to advance the organization’s mission and support its goals. Committee members have opportunities to create, plan and participate in service activities (volunteer days, awareness campaigns); help plan and host fundraising events (happy hours, peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns, etc.) and interact with Food & Friends’ staff and Board of Directors.

Benefits of Service

The committee provides social, professional and service opportunities for individuals interested in developing both leadership skills and their personal and professional networks. Opportunities include:

  • Developing leadership skills and resources to affect change in their community;
  • Interacting with Food & Friends staff and Board of Directors;
  • Gaining hands-on experience volunteering, planning service days, organizing fundraising events, and serving as Food & Friends’ ambassadors;
  • Enhancing your resume through service activities and volunteerism;
  • Networking with other civic-minded young professionals at Food & Friends events and committee gatherings.
